Love, love, love this place. My husband and I have been coming here for years! The prices are great and the sushi is sooo good. Usually cheaper places for sushi don't have the best quality and quantity of sushi. You won't find that here. The prices are damn good and they don't skimp on the size and flavor of the rolls.
The Osaka roll one if there specialty rolls is so good. Our favorite go to is the jalapeño poppers, Philadelphia roll, salmon hand rolls, and calamari roll. There are many great choices and they are always trying to come up with new rolls too. -

Worst customer service
there is no customer service they come so quickly ask you if you want to drink before your butt even hits the seat when you say give me a minute she gave me a dirty look and walked away
She abruptly came back in 2 min after we just got our menus what do you want to order
It was as if she was rushing us to eat then get out. Still two hours prior to closing
She never came back to refill my tea never came back to see if I wanted something else which I did I was going to order Hawaiian roll to go. Many other choices.
By the way the bathroom has a sewage odor. -

My family and I have been going here for the past 10+ years and it hasn't changed since! Still so good and affordable especially since we're talking about a sushi restaurant. Staff is super friendly and always there if you need anything.
If you don't like to eat raw fish, I suggest getting their osaka roll! We also love the Chef's Homie Roll, which is a little on the pricier side, but definitely worth it. There are also options of baked sushi. They also have many bento dishes that range from seafood to fried chicken cutlet and options of curry.
All in all, this place has so many options, there is a perfect dish for anyone. Don't be fooled by the age of the restaurant, the seafood stays fresh and all the food stays delicious. -

This place is still one of my FAVORITES and still in my opinion, best Japanese joints out there. It's not one bit fancy, BUT it's all in the food. Also, very reasonably priced! Their house roll, "Osaka" roll, is the best. SO simple, but so good! Not too over the top and drenched in sauce. Decent size rolls where it's not a pain to shove a big ass piece in your mouth. Their bento boxes are filling and also reasonably priced. The katsudon bowl I was expecting to be a little sweeter but there's so many other choices. This place from what I remember gets busy in the evening. We went today for lunch right when they opened and it was nice and quiet. Parking right in front. I don't live in SD anymore and it makes me sad because we used to frequent here all the time. Like at least 2x a week. If you live close, take advantage!

This place was crowded with all different type of ethnicities so it gave me a mix signal if this place was legitimy good. I was excited to see a roll that incorporated mango. Very few places offer a mango roll so we had to order that. When it's our first time at a restaurant, we always order our go-to items to compare and chances are, we probably won't be returning again. We got:
Mango Splash ($11.75) - Advertised as yellow tail with fresh mango. When it first came out, I was impress on the generous amount of mango. But then it was sour, hard, and not ripe. I thought it was mango season so that was a disappointment.
Baked Mussels ($4.75) 2 pieces - Decent size and cheesy
Dynamite ($12.95) - This came out last in a tin foil pan which is baked with a mixture of seafood. Also cheesey.
Tempura shrimp ad vegetables ($8.95) - Nothing wrong or special about this dish.
Chicken curry ($8.95) - The curry was strong in flavor. Had better.
The food was mediocore and I think it was crowded due to the inexpensive price point. We found out this was a Vietnamese owned restaurant and they have been here for 27 years. No offense to my people and I'm proud of the long tenure serving the local community.
